Project description

This project builds an ExpertZones model that provides a structured way to support the experts’ psychological well-being, career path development, and networking. The model helps doctoral researchers and other academics alike to understand the various dimensions of expertise and to become aware of their own strengths and development needs related to their growth into a specialist in their research field. The project establishes support groups and a well-being team at the University of Oulu to maintain doctoral researchers’ well-being. In addition, the project integrates support for career development and networking, together with related skills training, into the doctoral research process. As a result of this project, we expect the increase of the doctoral student’s well-being and the broadening of their expertise beyond the subject to their research.

Winner's Pitch Competition

Having challenges in balancing your IT use?

We are all familiar with the feeling of going on Youtube saying: "I will watch this one 5-minute video, and then get back to work", and ending up realizing 2 hours has slipped by. But when it comes to using IT, it's not just the fun things that waste our time and cause stress and anxiety, it's also not being able to use work-related software or the University changing their IT systems every 3 months (or at least it feels like that!).

We are organizing an initial meeting (~30 minutes) to have a discussion and hopefully to get you interested in participating further in our project!

The Day/time and location for the meetings are:

  1. Friday, 30th September: walk-in anytime between 10:00 and 13:00 @ Tellus, Frost club
  2. Wednesday, 5th October: walk-in anytime between 10:00 and 11:30 @ Foodoo Garden, Meirami
